BioMarin offers a summer internship program that is designed to actively engage students in applying their talents and academic experience in areas of specific professional interest at BioMarin. Our summer interns not only gain hands-on, relevant industry experience, but also have the opportunity to learn about the corporate setting, through daily tasks and learning workshops created especially for our summer interns.
The Legal Intern will assist with legal research and limited drafting projects, such as contracts and SEC filings. In addition, the intern will be involved with a template/form creation project and a proxy re-write project.
Skills to gain: The intern will gain insight into the operation of an in-house legal department and the associated day to day tasks and begin to develop practical legal skills.

The Intellectual Property Law Intern will conduct IP Legal research on current processes for prosecution, maintenance and defense of intellectual property (e.g. trade secret policies) and prepare memoranda based on research. In addition, the intern will assist and interact with members of IP department (attorneys, administrative staff) in basic activities related to IP prosecution and maintenance, e.g., administrative and substantive aspects of filing patent and trademark applications, prosecuting applications, and maintaining patents and registrations.
Skills to gain: The intern will develop an understanding in various substantive and administrative aspects of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks and licenses, research and writing skills (specifically related to intellectual property) and practical experience in basic intellectual law practice.
